Dan has served as the Senior Pastor here since July of 2003. Ordained as a Deacon in the Detroit Annual Conference in 1983, and as an Elder in the West Michigan Annual Conference in 1988, this is his fourth pastoral appointment since 1986. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1979, where he met his wife Mary, and then received a Masters of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, and completed a Clinical Pastoral Education residency at Lutheran General Hospital before entering the parish ministry.
He and Mary have three children: Jesse, currently living as a student and artist in Chicago; Ania, a student at Muskegon Community College, and Julia, a sophomore at Grand Haven High School. Mary is a registered architect and is the principle with her own firm.
Along with reading and gardening, Dan enjoys many different sports like handball, hockey, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, kayaking, and windsurfing, and also enjoys hands-on woodworking projects like boat and surfboard building. |
