The Church of the Dunes is involved in Mission projects around
the world and here at home. The Missions and Social Concerns
Commission has the responsibility of helping our congregation
to be more educated and involved in the connectional missions
of the United Methodist Church. As a commission, we continue
to educate ourselves of the mission opportunities in our community,
across our nation and around the world. We strive to make
informed recommendations to our congregation about mission
giving and mission support.
We have financially committed to supporting the following
local missions on a regular basis:
Love INC (In the name of Christ)
M.A.P.(Mission to Area People) Supper House
International Aid
The Salvation Army
These organizations also receive regular volunteer support
from many members of our congregation who have recognized
the value of giving their time and talents to our community.
We also support, through our generous giving, the food pantries
and clothes pantries of Love INC and the Salvation Army.
In addition to these local ministries, we provide regular
financial support to two missionaries who faithfully serve
those in need around the world.
The Church of the Dunes has committed to long term support
of an on-going mission in the Philippines which helps to provide
everyday health care to needy families in United Methodist
Church neighborhoods. This program; CB-HELP (Church Based-Health
Education for Lay People) is presently in it's first expansion
phase. The original project has been established and self-supporting
for several years thanks to the generous giving of our congregation.
To become more involved in these missions or to learn more
about any of the mission organizations that our congregation
supports; see more information at the organization links.
