From the moment you drive up the hill into our parking lot,
you can just feel yourself becoming closer to God. Then, as
you look at the church with its soaring roofline, your spirits
are lifted higher as well. Our front doors with handles from
top to bottom were designed so that any person -- young or
old, tall or small, challenged or not - can pull open the
door and enter in.
Your first glimpse into the Sanctuary reveals God's great
outdoors as the towering panes of clear glass encourage you
to revel in the seasonal changes, nature, and wildlife surrounding
you. The visual centerpoint of the entire Sanctuary is straight
ahead and at the very highest point of the entire structure
-- the cross. With your mind and heart focused on God, one
can truly worship.
The United Methodist Church of the Dunes Worship Commission's
goal is to provide meaningful, thought-provoking, life-changing,
and faith-growing services of Worship. From the moment you
walk into the doors, you can "feel" the warmth and
friendliness and the 'sense of being home' in God's House.
Our Sunday morning Worship Services are held in our beautiful
open Sanctuary at 8:30am and 11:00am each Sunday. Between
the two services we offer a time for fellowship and/or a time
for learning. (see Education) There are other special services
planned for other significant times, too, such as Ash Wednesday
and Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Resurrection Day)
to name a few.
Our church has been blessed with many giving and talented
people and worshippers are the recipients of beautiful 'worship'
music of various styles. From Bach to contemporary Christian
and from the very youngest on hand chimes, to the adults ringing
handbells, there is something for everyone. From the wafting
of pipe organ to the electronic keyboard and the raising of
voices of young and not-so-young alike, God's name is praised
above all! (see Music Ministry)
Our sermon messages are challenging and pertinent to today's
world as the Bible and its relevance is. Applying God's Word
and taking it home with us is life-changing and heart-stretching.
Please see Sermon Topics for a list of upcoming Sunday morning
messages. We also offer the celebration of Communion on the
first Sunday of each month at both services. The United Methodist
Church offers open communion to all those who hold Jesus Christ
as their Lord and Savior.
We look forward to seeing you at our Worship Services!
